RITH is an inter-denominational Christian church that believes that Jesus Christ is the Promised Messiah and the Savior of mankind. His death and resurrection is redemptive for all those who receive Him as Lord and Savior. RITH is made up of people from all different social and religious backgrounds. We believe the Bible is the
“inspired” Word of God (2 Tim 3:16) and it is
without error. However, there may be error in our interpretation of
the Bible's meaning. For that reason, we feel that the church of Jesus
Christ is called to operate in humility seeking always to walk in the
"spirit of truth". We believe that truth is arrived at in a
collective sense; that is, listening and learning from church
history and from our contemporaries who love the Lord and His Word. We also believe that the Word
of God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit will cause people to experience
God’s reality and relevance in their life. In John 4:24, Jesus talks
about the ministry of the Spirit and the ministry of the Word (truth).
John 4:24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must
worship in spirit and truth." We believe the Holy Spirit is still
active in the world to help people, and that the
gifts of the Spirit are real, relevant, and for today. (1 Cor. 12,
14) For that reason, we could also be called a Spirit-filled
church. It is our desire to be a church that experiences the power and revelation of the early disciples as recorded in the New Testament. Is River in the Hills part of another
church? No, we are not. However,
both within and without RITH, there are accountability structures in place
for the safety of our members and the pastoral leadership team. We
have an elder board that provides financial oversight and accountability
to the pastors and staff. Furthermore, RITH is under the
authority of an outside council of three men who have a combined ministry
experience of over 75 years. What kind of worship do you have? Our worship is considered to
be contemporary. We sing a mixture of new songs and hymns. The worship
time at RITH is not a concert for spectators, nor is it just a nice way to
begin a service. Psalm 100:4 tells us it is the prescribed way into
the presence of God. Psalm 100:4 "Enter into
His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with
praise." Therefore, since
praise and thanksgiving is the means by which we enter into the presence
of God, we devote a significant amount of time towards worship. We don’t
come to church just to talk about
God. Our desire is to actually experience the presence of God. There is freedom at RITH to
stand or sit during worship. Some people may desire to kneel at
their chair or at the altar. The bottom line we encourage an atmosphere
for genuine worship from the heart. Our Vision: Up-reach: We
believe loving God and receiving His love is our highest calling. All
ministry flows out of this relationship. In-reach: As members of a spiritual family,
we seek to equip one another for service and to grow to spiritual
maturity. The ministry of God's Word and the ministry of the Holy Spirit
work together to help us grow to spiritual maturity. Outreach: We endeavor to carry out Jesus’
command to proclaim the good news of His kingdom to all people. The
fulfillment of this command is both an expression of and a result of
Up-reach and In-reach. Call River in the Hills Church at 512.263.2887 |
